I must brag. Since becoming a member to this discussion forum and reading the training articles, I have been working my dog in obedience nearly every day. We work in the house as well as outside, rain or shine. This 5.5 year old GSD is SO driven and as Old Earth said something on another post about the drives growing with the handler...
Tonight after our obedience, (mainly sit/stays and watch me's with distractions), we were cutting up a bit with fetch the stick. I threw the stick too far and it went under my jeep. He circled once around and appeared to examine the distance, then dove in beneath the front end, crawling on his belly, grabbed the stick and crawled back out. His whole body was under the vehicle!!! He is getting so good. Is that a good drive or what?
I totally agree if the drives are good to begin with, they can become more clear and focused. Nobody here really believes you can't teach an old dog new tricks, right?
YEA!!! it's SO COOL when this stuff works, isn't it?? my pup and marker training--WORKS!!!!!!!!!
now i'm working on the difference between his (so good) "sit", and "fuss" (look at me). that is hard--but, the pup is SMART, and he looks over some of my screw-ups (thank god).
I love this topic!! It gives me hope for the future with my new puppy. I've already made some mistakes with him, fortunatly they've been an easy fix so far.
Yes, this dog has been diagnosed with kidney disease unknown etiology, unknown progression. His only symptoms are drinking more water and urinating more frequently. Apparently, he is not concentrating urine. So. Will recheck blood to get an idea of where this dis-ease is going.
I do have him on Canine Noni, as the noni juice for humans shows a 66% effectiveness on various kidney diseases (amongst many other things). The juice seems to be helping with his focus and coat so far. Will be anxious to see what the blood levels are in May.
Great dog. Will soon post his lineage to see if anyone knows about the dogs. Pedigree still locked in file cabinet with no key!!!
