" knew someone would come out and say this.. but..
I don't see what you're seeing wrong.. For sure this is not a "training method" that I'm using.. It just happend to have happened. and was caught on tape. My dog didn't get to grip this hard by tugging with "Dogs". I train his drive with balls and tugs.. I'm not too concerned, Right Now, on the grip as much as his drive.. Anyways.. all comments are welcomed. "
What I see wrong is this, one time or not should have never happen, at this age, you should be building drive to bite, drive to chase and end it when his drive is at the highgest so the next time he come out he wants more, instead you let him bit that sleeve for 25 minutes, that is not drive building, he either got tired and GAVE UP the sleeve, how is that for building confident, he should be carry it home, or his teeth start to hurt and he gave up, so now he might associated pain with bite and might give up a fight when he feels pain later on, you should do anything possible to let him win and make him feel like he is king and keep play session short to build drive, not no 25 minutes bite work that he loss.
BTW when I was a kid, I let my "white GS, didn't know any better then" play with my neighbor 4 months old pitbull pup, in a split second that pup went for my dog neck and hang on for a ride, 23 stiches is what it took to fix my dog.
to defend john, he stated clearly that this was a one time event. if the pup tired and let go and john agrees that this is not what he wants in training it is still o.k. it doesn't hurt to make a mistake, just don't make a habit of it. he also said clearly that he knew and could trust the pit bull. how well, did you, as a child, know the dog next door? so you see, we don't need to over-react to this. no one was injured.

IMO, no one overreacted here. When you put things on this forum you should expect to get pro and con opinions. Some of us think that it was not a good thing to allow to continue and some of us think that it was okay and then there are the rest who watch it and keep their opinions to themselves.
If you do not want opinions both good and not so good, the best thing to do is not post.
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
i did not mean to imply that. i am simply saying that it is not necessary to do so. a proactive statement, not an accusation. it is not uncommon for feelings to build in a discussion like this. i am not saying that they have already done so. please excuse me if i am not making that clear in the first post. your friend in training.
