My 4 mon. old puppy snagged one of his puppy canines and it broke off near the gum line. Do you think I need to have it checked/pulled, or should it be ok since it's going to fall out anyway?
Thanks,
~Carol
I would have it looked at by your vet. If the nerve is exposed it could cause discomfort to the pup which should be addressed. The brake could also provide a route for bacteria or infection to set in, if it abcesses your pup will be in a world of hurt. Also, if the tooth causes your pup pain when he eats it could also interfere with his food intake and/or effect his wieght gain, etc.... You're vet may find that the tooth is okay to leave until it falls out on its own, but personally I'd still have it checked just to be sure.
