Valerie Tietz-Kelly Webboard User Reg: 07-26-2005 Posts: 566 Loc: NJ, USA Offline	Just a little frustration here, but for some reason my AST will not down consistently outside. Indoors she is almost 100%, but outside less then 50%.....I have to step on the leash to get her to go down. Once she is down she will stay but I have to assist. Also her down is tenuous...like she does not like the feel of grass, or something....any thoughts anyone. Do I just keep going and it will come???? Val

Get to the point when inside she's "100% on the down" rather that "almost 100%". I'm guessing that "outside" wherever it is has "too many" distractions for the level of you dog. Good luck,

That means you must make sure that you have the dog’s complete attention. After the dog understands, then you can start adding distractions and work in different places. Only after the dog understands is it appropriate to correct the dog for unwanted reactions, etc. Imagination is more important than knowledge.
