My pup has had the 1st of the 2 series rattler vaccinations. Here in So Calif, it protects against all native species except the Mojave. If your dog is bitten, you still need to get to a vet with anti-venom ASAP, because many dogs will still need to be treated with AV along with other supportive therapies. The vaccine buys you time.
The web site says they are working on vaccines for various species/areas of the country. I would go for a Cottonmouth vaccine. Our dogs get lots of exposure going to the lake all the time. And contrary to popular myth, moccasins CAN bite you underwater.
Actually the vaccine has been out for over a year now. If you can find a bunch of people who want to go in on it, you can order 25 vial pack from lambriarvet. You have to call them, but they can get it. I looked into last year but not enough interest in my area and it would've gone to waste.
