I don't believe this has been addressed if so let me know. I have a young female pitbull. (under a year)
I don't have the extra cash right now to purchase a DVD(s).
I would like to know something I can do to preserve her drive. I am also undecided about ring or shcutzhund. So until I decide I just didn't want to lose drive. I don't know if it can go away.
Just play ball if your dog likes the ball or play tug. Just don`t over do it to where the dog loses interest. You can even put the dog on a back tie and do tug work if he/she has drive to bite it. Tease the dog first by making it go back and forth and when the dog barks for it, let the dog bite it. Do that a couple of times and then i would take the dog and put the dog away when he/she is all built up with drive. Maybe have someone moving the tug back and forth as you are bringing the dog back inside. That way the dog is in drive when put away. I`m sure ED sells tugs if you don`t have one and videos on how to do tug work.
