Heather ,your comment onthe "out of closet' is funny...
I think ,hey, what ever works ,I am not for Halti,BUT if it works for oyu who am I to say "DOn't use it" Great you are having success!
Angela, I understand what you are saying about your dog being smarter than us in training. But you are going to have to out smart yours or you will be battleling that problem forever...
On the other hand ok you are working on something else and you are having success (awesome) but he CAN walk on the leash by your side without pulling and going straight at the same time.I think maybe your corrections are not tough enough, you should video yourself and see what you are NOT doing to get it done or see what you can do better.Sometimes when you watch yourself on a video it makes a huge impact on how you handle and will handle your dog later.Especially if you have no trainers to help you. Sometimes a video of yourself healing your dog can help YOU fix YOURSELF.Don't give up go back to it when you are ready...
As for the 3 months old doing that routine ,he can do it but you have to allow more mistakes and patience and the pops have to be soft but enough to makeyour point and understand that when his handler changes directions he has to too..The first thing I teach my pups is positioning ,always ,and usually the healing comes nicely..
I wish you success at what ever you are working on Angela, good luck!
