Hello all, I have a 5 month old German Sheperd who wieghs 30 lbs. He is getting ready to start obedience school in a couple weeks. With our 2 year old Shepherd we use a prong collar and love the results but, at what age can I begin using a prong on the pup? Also, if 5 months is too young for a prong what should be used instead? Thank you all for your help I really appreciate it!

At 5 months, don't need any correction collar, just food or a toy. I'd wait till 9 or 10 months, and only after you are 120% certain the dog knows the commands, before using it for corrections.
I agree with Mike. you could start putting it on and make it a good thing now and not using it. My boy loves it when he hears it and knows its time for something fun, WORK.
