I have a four month old puppy that will pee as soon as coming inside. She has been outside for about ten to fifteen minutes. she will even pee in spurts while outside. She will come inside and pee and look at you, she will also pee with you looking at her when you leave her in the basement. She will also go hide if she isn't caught doing it. We leave her in the basement while we are gone and she will pee on her pads. other issue is when she poops in the basement she will eat her poop. what can I use to end these problems. I was told that meat tenderizer in her food will stop her from eating it????
Crate train the puppy.. Using pads in the basement is just not right.. It seems that you need to do quite some reading.. I suggest you go read some of the housbreaking articles on the site..
tho i havent had a dog long in my opinion id scrap the pad's, when we got them im certain our dog went backwards in the potty training cycle as we tried using pad's and then trying to move them closer and closer to the door which is regular advice on using them,
all we ended up with was a dog who thought the door mat was one of these pad's. and a dog who would pee/poop wherever whenever as soon as we stopped using em things picked up
we spent a messy winter without a door mat,and my mother was not best pleased
also the dog gets conflicting signals when you praise them for pee'ing inside id guess <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
edit---
also dont tell ur pup off for pooping/peeing inside its not there fault, a child does the same luckily in its nappy :P
i was told a pup can only remember what they did between 3/7 seconds ago so when u come back 2/3 mins later its already forgotten
heh 1 more thing
it might sound stupid but it helps save your sanity
if you fill it out you will notice patterns print one each week and write the letter in at what time <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
it might help you find a routine for your dog <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.

Good Luck
What he said. Those pee pads are really a bad plan, IMO. They train the dog to go inside the house. If you don't have a crate, I think you need to get one, first order of business.
So you'll be starting over with the crate (the right way). This will stop the poop-eating in the basement.
The dog isn't doing this to rebel or to annoy you; the dog doesn't know what to do yet.
When you take her out, praise for peeing/pooping outside.
Take her out the minute she wakes up, after every play/training session, after eating and drinking, and right before going into the crate for the night. Don't combine the crate with pee pads. The pads are really, *really* a bad plan.
When you read the Leerburg link above, it will be much clearer what to do. (For example, when she starts to go inside, you'll swoop her outdoors instantly and then praise for going outdoors. You'll never let her out of your sight out of the crate until she's trained.)
This might take a couple of weeks because she's started bad (basement and pee pads), but she wants treats and praise. Set her up to get them.
Ignore mistakes that you don't catch her in the act. Oli is correct that punishing later than right that second is meaningless and confusing to the pup.
You can do this. Crate training is THE method. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I would check the pup for a bladder infection IF she is peeing outside and then inside minutes later.
Rule out medical issues first and then worry about training.
Many dogs eat poop, it can sometimes be resolved by improving the diet to something more digestible. there are lots of posts in this forum regarding poop eating.
I would argee with Cindy, since frequent, small spots of pee does indicate an infection.
If you are in the clear after the vet visit, then begin training via the crate method.
Oh and eating feces might be her having a nutritional defeciancy, or her afriad/knowing you yell/punish her for these "things" in her presence.....this also (sometimes) is a learned behavior from other dogs.....just a thought. Meat tenderizer can help (or For-bid) but nothing is a gaurantee with all dogs....
Good luck!
