My 11 week old pup ate a piece of Saran Wrap about 11 inches by 5 inches. It was used to wrap a turkey neck in, he grabbed it out of the trash and quickly swallowed it while running away from me <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I have not yet seen it come out, this was 2 days ago. Does that stuff dissolve in the intestines? I wouldn't think so, so am a little concerned it might block his intestines. However, I did find my elastic hair band while looking for the saran wrap. Whole, I might add. Was wondering where I had put it.
Any advice on the Saran Wrap? Cause for concern? Thanks in advance.
Sandy,
Call your vet, not sure if this is an issue or not but I would just call the vet, they know you have a pup and should answer your questions there.
Jay
Last Christmas my adult dog ate some of the colored saran wrap and it came out over the course of a few days. It was easy to spot because it was red and green; if yours was clear it may be harder to see. Not sure if it will affect your pup differently, but my dog was fine. I'd keep an eye on him though.
Thanks for the advice, Jay and Anne. I just called the vet, was told to look for lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, any change in behavior. None of which has happened, he still eats like a voracious wolf, and runs around happy and carefree, no prob with bowel movements, no vomiting. Will continue to watch him however. Vet office said concern would be if wrap wadded up inside him, but said the stuff is pretty slippery, and hopefully will just slide through. I might have missed it in a poopie, maybe not able to see it for some reason.
