I've never protection trained a dog and my only knowledge about this subject is what I've read in Ed's articles and on this board or watched on some of his DVDs, so I have no hands-on knowledge of the subject. My question is what makes an agitation collar an "agitation" collar? Does the collar agitate the dog or is it a collar one puts on an agitated dog to keep it from choking or what? Just curious as to why it's called what it's called cause can't see anything on the picture of the collar on Ed's site that would actually agitate a dog. If the collar is to keep the dog from choking, is it the same as putting a flat collar on a pup to keep it from choking when it's going nuts and I'm trying to correct/control it? I guess that was 2 questions. Bear with me, haven't had enough coffee yet and may not be clear with my questions. Thanks for any replies.

An agitation collar is a wide collar usually made of leather.
It allows the dog to pull against the leash during work without cutting off it's air supply.
You can't give a meaningful correction with an agitation collar.
