My pup has been having loose stool during the week transition to THIS My question is could this food just be too rich for him? If so any suggestions other then RAW or THK?
Just wondering howow old is your pup? It could be that you are switching too quickly for his/her system. I have found that each dog is really different when it comes to switching foods. My Cairn Terrier can eat an entirely different food the next day, while my GSD used to take about 3-4 weeks to switch. My GSD puppy (5Months)switched over in about 1.5 weeks. It just depends on their systems <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Also, Are you switching from a food that had grains in it? My 4 yr old GSD went through a detox period when she was taken off "grain" kibble to "grain-free kibble" and raw.
Raw Instinct is a nice food...I personally use it in rotation with Canidae & Raw and my supersensitive girl doesn't seem bothered by it.

6 1/2 months. I switched to this from THK food. He acts fine, playful, energetic, ect.. But unless I add pumpkin or rice he has loose stool. He is gaining weight just fine but I just cant figure out if it is the food or something worse. I guess I will stick it out a while longer and see how it works out.
I've had the same problem with my GSD. You might want to look at the fat content in Raw Instinct. It's 22%fat. Way too fat for my boy. As others have mentioned, each puppy/dog is different. I tried so many very good foods that out of despiration several months ago I tried the new Lassie Natural Way Lamb and Rice dog food. Problem solved, he gets his kibble and raw each meal and the pudding stools have ended. I must add too, that there was no medical reason for the pudding/loose stools, so it had to be finding just the right food for him.
