Can I buy enzymes from a health food store at a much lower cost or do they have to be specifically for dogs ? The vet wrote a prescription for viokase.But the only place I can find it,is at an online pet pharmacy for $160 for 12 oz powder form . Ouch !
Does green tripe help with EPI ?
EPI is for the life of the dog . Is it possible for it to go into remission or the pancrease to start functioning properly again ? Vet said no (but then again it took him 2 months to come to this diagnosis)
Would raw pig pancrease be any better than the powder form ?

We have a GSD with Pancreatic Insufficiency. We give him Panakare Plus which is about $80 or $90 for 12 oz through our vet. Still expensive, but not $160!! It comes in powder and tablet form, so far I think the tablet works equally well and is a little more convenient/user freindly than the powder.
