In some parts of Europe when you go the hospital your case if often looked at by tradtional doctors as well as homoepathic ones. They often decide on how to treat you. Homeopathy has been around for a VERY long time and has been quite proven in it's use.
I have homeopathy on my dogs (and periodically on myself) for several years with some outstanding results. I don't throw out traditional allopath options but look at the big picture of what is the best choice or a combination of choices.
In my experience people who are as passionate as you are against it likley are not really open to seeing it different than what your perspective is. Which is your right and choice. However, just because you don't believe in it does not make it quacky or untrue.
I am not getting a meaningful dialogue about placebo at least. Sorry for wasting forum space with my particular special interests in science. Wrong place, my mistake. I really want to learn from you experts about dogs, where I do have a lot to learn
Regards to you all even though we do not share opinions or thought processes.

i honestly don't understand how dogs could have a placebo effect. humans can have them, of that i'm a firm believer, but we're concious of what we're putting in our body and capable of wanting it to work. how does that work with an animal?
I would urge you all to delineate between homeopathy, and CHINESE herbal medicine, and acupuncture. Chinese medicine has been in use for thousands of years on humans and animals with great results. It deserves separate discussion from other types of medicine. The placebo debate is silly. All medicine involves the mind. The mind and body are not separate, and therefore effect each other.
Something that many overlook is that allopathic medicine often operates on clinical experience alone and not just scientific research (i.e. off-label uses of pharmaceuticals).
