My beloved dog, Dante, was recently diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma where it settled in his heart. He has a tumor that bleed out last week. They tapped his chest twice and did four ultrasounds to reveal this horrify disease. I brought him him as traditional medicine had done what it can. He is on many holistic things like Colloidal Silver, Milk Thislte, Essiac Tea, Probiotics, Salmon Oil and Vitamin C. I have Martime Pine Extract and some specific regime for Hemangiosarcoma on the way. I have done research on Paw Paw extract and Graviola for tumor and cancer fighting and found super results...for humans. Has anyone heard of it being used on dogs? I think Graviola had some low blood pressure side effects which Dante can not have considering when I took him in his was so low it wouldn't register. I am trying as much as I can for this dog. He is absolutely the apple of my eye. IF anyone has had success with other cancer fighting elements PLEASE let me know. Dante is holding his own at teh moment and I want ot keep it that way. He is on an all raw fresh diet and up until now this dog has never been ill a day in his life. He is minimally vaccinated as well so this comes as a huge blow to me. I have many thoughts on this disease and immune systems but I am in need of any holistic advice I can get. (no surgery is available to remove the tumor) Thanks
Karmen and Dante

Karmen, you're in IN, correct? If so, and you don't mind a bit of a drive, check out Veterinary Specialty Center online. This place is incredible-I wish they had doctors this competent for people! They have several specialties within the hospital, including oncology. They also have 2 holistic doctors on site, and the doctors work together to combine their knowledge and expertise for the best possible outcome. They've saved my GSD from an unnecessary TPLO, and prevented my Chi from being paralyzed. You've never encountered such a "team" feeling in a hospital of any kind. You can actually call the front desk and they know which animal you're calling about, which doctor is taking care of them, and most times, they know their updated condition! First time I've come across a left hand that knows what the right hand is doing in the medical field. They're a real, 24/7 hospital, with some of the best vets in the country. They're not cheap, mind you, but worth every penny. It's in Buffalo Grove, IL. I've heard great things about their cancer outcomes. It's the "last resort" place for the Chicago suburbs; if they can't fix it, you know you've tried everything.
Good luck!

It may be worth your while to ask if Dr.Barbara Royal would give you a phone consultation; she's part of Therapet, the holistic department, but is trained in Western, Eastern, you name it. She's unusual in that she combines practices from all philosophies, and is very open-minded and COMPASSIONATE! She absolutely does her best...she actually cried with my sister over her dying kitten, and then didn't charge her a penny.

I'm so sorry about this, Karmen.
I'm going to look through all my saved stuff for the best cancer support sites I've found.

This one has a lot of diet info:
 http://neuro.vetmed.ufl.edu/neuro/AltMed/Cancer/Cancer_AltMed.htm
Here's some Paw Paw and Graviola info (which I have not researched):
 http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/Graviola.html
(The studies for this site above involved Beagles with tumors, which speaks to the use with dogs question.)

I saw on a vet med newsletter that Purdue has done tumor research with tincture of Graviola, and I'll try to dig that up.

Karmin, I am so very sorry to hear about Dante. You might try contacting Dr.Martin Goldstein's practice: Smith Ridge Vet Center, in SO. Salem, NY. He IS the Dr. Goldstein that wrote the book on Animal Healing & is a specialist in hollistic cancer & rare disease care. He will do telephone consults. Also Alan Schoen is another source. You can google his name. His is also minutes from me in SO West. CT. He does chiropractic, acupuncture & holistic care. If you should decide to come out here & see either of them, you are welcome to stay at my home. I am only about 15-20 minutes from either of them. SMith Ridge Tel # 914-533-6066 Alan is: 860-354-2887. Good luck.

Karmen, So sorry to hear about this and even more sorry that I don't have any suggestions. Will keep you and Dante in my thoughts and prayers. It's just awful to see our friends in need and feel so helpless.
Best regards,
Debbie
