.. and I was wondering if you guys have any games or other training I can do with her.
She's not a big biter, has a weak grip (I don't work on grip with her so I can't complain), and she is real mouthy.
But any treat I hide....she finds. Any time I take her on a walk, her nose is burried and she is following "something".
I figure I might as well continue to work on this with her. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do with her?
What type of tracking should I also be looking at using with her... sport or police?
She is a family pet, not a working dog. I just figure I should keep introducing new training to her to keep things interesting. You can only entertain your dog with come, sit, and down for so long.
Why not teach your dog to track when you want her to.I would start with learning to track for sport , like Schutzhund.
We have a few members in our Schutzhund club that only track with us and nothing else. They enjoy tracking, it's rewarding and it is such a natural thing for dogs(and a lot of other animals) I love to track my dogs it is such a relaxing time for both.A dogs' noze is amazing. By the way your dogs' grip can be fix if you ever want to go into bite work later on.But tracking, I would give it a shot. Have fun with it.
I've started training my dog to find shed antlers. They are kinda a prized find here in the south, but I can't ever find any. So this year I'm gonna cheat <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> That link Connie gave has lots of fun games to help get you started, too.
