Jamie Fraser Webboard User Reg: 09-20-2006 Posts: 184 Loc: Indiana, USA Offline	i am making great progress improving the response time with my dog with various things like sit, down, sitting from a down, and even with short-duration stays. however, i'd like to teach stand, but i have no idea where to begin. teaching a down from a sit was easy, i just had the leash on the front of her neck, stood on the end of it, gave the command and then stood further up the leash.. but there isn't a leash for the other end of the dog! i am rewarding for correct behaviour, and so far all i can think of is having her sit for a long time, keep giving her the stand command, and then rewarding her when she does it? i don't want her to think i'm rewarding her for standing up whenever she doesn't feel like sitting or downing any more though. thanks in advance.

Jamie Fraser Webboard User Reg: 09-20-2006 Posts: 184 Loc: Indiana, USA Offline	thanks, i'll give it a shot later. i was actually thinking about just standing the leash with her in a sit, and maybe teasing her with food. she won't be able to jump, but then i can mark and reward her as soon as her butt leaves the floor? i'd really like her not to walk anywhere when changing positions if i can - she already fidgets going from a sit to a down, and i need to work on that. thanks for the suggestion
