My dog was spayed long before nine months. My vet told me it was best to get it done before she went into her first heat. She's 6.5 years old now, and there has never been a problem. I'm not saying this is true for all dogs...I don't know. My suggestion is ask your vet. I've learned that you cannot beleive everything you read. There's a lot of good information, but there is also some very bad information out there.
I'm waiting for the OFA's befor I spay. I'm guessing but if a male needs two years to fully mature for proper bone, muscle and maybe mental maturity it would stand to reason the female would need about the same amount of time.
