I think the puppy naps are over. She is bouncing off the walls.
More walks, more play and still no sleep. Even when she is not banging the kennel or laying down when I walk by she is staring at me just waiting for a command(all in fun and food). For the last week no more day naps and no more sleep all night. First she will wimper then start slamming her cage. I can't wait till she is a little older then I will give her half the house to pace around in at night.
I am so happy I got a dog with some motivation. She is showing great interest at PP training. She drives my wife nuts when I leave her home. I tell my wife how much fun it is but she just doesn't see it. Of course she has her hands full with our son.
Those who would give up essential freedoms for the temporary feeling of safety deserve neither!!
I remember when mine was six months of age and he is now a year.Nothing has changed, he is always looking for something to do.I found a spot out in the desert where I can let them run loose for miles and no one is around.I take my dogs every morning( 6 or 7 am) before my kids wake up(my husband is hone sleeping too) We go for an hour and a half.I thought it would be my cure to the energy he has all the time , nop it never ends.
I put him in a crate a night and some nights loose.I am in your boat , I hope soon he mellows out and stops bringing me dirty socks from my boys room to play with
Same thing here, Steve, with my 6 month old. When he gets too crazy in the crate, I put a cover over it (it's a wire crate, open all around). I don't reward him by letting him out when he's acting up. I just think he needs to learn how to calm himself and lay still, even though he's as reluctant as heck to do that. He has gotten better at it now. Now I'm waiting for when he can do that OUT of the crate and in the house
He recently learned how to open the crate door, a drop pin door. At first I thought I hadn't closed it well, soon realized he was opening it by pushing up with his nose and teeth. So now have to use the latch it comes with on the outside. Sure glad he didn't first do it when I wasn't home!
