I have just gotten signed up for this forum, and hope that the way these pics are posted works. I've always had dogs but always wanted a GSD, and I finally have one. My girl's name is Xena Alexis Vom Germelhaus (aka Lexi). She was born November 1, 2006 and so far is doing great. Her beginning obedience is going well and I'm trying to soak up all the info I can about where to go from here.
The first pic on here is Lexi at 9 weeks, and the other one with both of us was taken today (11 weeks). As you can see, her left ear has fallen. I have read all kinds of stuff on ears, but have to admit that it's not keeping me from freaking out a bit and hoping every day that it is going to pop back up.
I'm looking forward to learning lots from this forum and those of you with experience at training and raising this breed.
Terri, if you link to files from your computer it won't show up for anyone
You have to upload the photos onto the web (photobucket and flickr.com are some nice free image-hosting sites). Then use the URLs of the photos to post your images.
Thanks for the info. This whole photobucket thing is new to me, so fortunately my son has given me a hand with it. Here's some pix of my baby. Let me know if you can see them now!
Hi Terry. Don't worry about the ears....seriously. How many German Shepherds have you encountered that have floppy ears? Sure it happens occasionally, but it's not that common.
If the ear was up, and then fell, it will go back up. Even if it wasn't up at all yet, you have little to worry about at this stage.
I know what it's like to be paranoid though!! Great looking pup! HUGE ears...no wonder they're falling occassionally!
Omg, German shepherd babies are THE most adorable puppies in the world. Your pup is so cute, congrats!
I have to giggle a little at the enormous ears. Don't worry about them, they'll come up.
They may change around quite a bit. Perhaps the other ear will be down in a few days and the current floppy one will go up. They may even lean into eachother or cross over on top of the head. At that age the ears look different every day and it makes for some highly amusing puppy photos
(Good job with the photos, I see that you even got a little pic in your signature!)
That is the cutest puppy ever!!!!!!! What an adorable girl you have!!! Congratulations on your puppy! These puppies are so great! I have a GSD, too, and he is wonderful. If I knew anything about posting pictures, I would show a picture of him!!!
