My new 8 week old puppy appears constipated he is straining when he has a bowel movement. They are hard formed and come out in pieces. She also has a bowel movemnt like 6 x a day. I feed her Prairie food. We got her 2 days ago. Is their anything natural I can give her without giving her diarhea?
Pumpkin can help. The solid pack can not the pie mix, that has spices etc in it. Give a table spoon & see if that helps. Can give again later in the day if no results. There may be more on this if you do a search. Also, make sure that the pup has access to water at all times. It could be due to a change in diet etc or if it continues or the pup should stop eating or start to vomit...go to the vet, as there could be an obstuction. Good luck with the new pup.

Also, Laura, has she had a vet check yet? I didn't notice the first time I read your post that you had only had her for two days.
I'm with Anne about a little canned plain pumpkin (no sugar or spices) and plenty of water in the meantime. I would even add water to the food dish if she's not drinking much on her own. (I have found that dogs who don't drink much water will often wolf down everything in the food bowl.)
If the vet thinks she needs some help, I think s/he might consider introducing a little bit of water, maybe with a little oil added, in the form of a small enema.
Good luck! Tell us how the vet call/visit goes, OK?
