I was always told that a "true " bi- black is a dog that has only brown spots on the cheek the rest of the face is black, and legs and/or feet brown also around the butt under the tail. In others words marked like a Rottweiller without the brown eyebows.

I think it is called a bitch stripe because it is more noticeable on bitches, wider or lighter or something. On the other thread I mentioned some people were saying they thought it was a pigmentation issue, so I through that in because the expert was emphatic it wasn't.
My boy is bi-color, to the eye. But if you run your hands along his fur from his back toward his head, you can tell its technically sable. The fur is lighter towards the root. This actually developed as he matured. He use to have dark spots over his toes as well, and they've almost disappeared.
