I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like you did a wonderful thing for your father-in-law being with him in his final months and days.
Those changes you listed regarding what your family has gone through recently - wow. Quite a lot .
Well, glad to hear you're back on Leerburg. I look forward to more posts. Posts some pictures, please .

Many people on several forumns ridiculed me for trying to keep him but I was determined and I think it paid off.
I was one of them. I didn't quite ridicule you, but when I read that he had bitten every member of your family except one, I honestly thought you were kidding about the situation. I think my reaction to the description of the kids being terrified of him and your wife refusing to deal with him was probably the rudest and most combative post I have ever made, before or since.
Well, you certainly proved me wrong, and you deserve a full measure of admiration for the stick-to-it-iveness you've demonstrated.
Even Susan (my wife) has noticed and mentioned an enormous difference with him. I really think the biggest difference is having a playmate, much larger yard to run, and us knowing how to pre-empt his actions. My kids have even found their way to control him. Basically if he cannot behave, he cannot be around us but by no means is he allowed to maintain his position or activity when he growls even the slightest bit.
