Can anyone pass on some advice regarding aftercare concerning aural hematomas in GSD's? My 22 month old GSD is currently recuperating at home following yesterday's surgery and although I'm following his vet care to the letter, I haven't had any direct experience dealing with this personally and would like to know of any tips, advice, care, etc. to make his life a little more bearable during his healing period by those who have gone through it.
As a side note, I am spraying the area in question with Collodial Silver and adding an immune booster to his raw/Solid Gold kibble diet so I am open to any holistic suggestions. His raw diet is beef, pureed veg (carrot and celery), overcooked oats and kelp.
Thank you for your responses, they are greatly appreciated!

Hey Laurie!
Poor, poor Mans and his hema-tomato I'm sorry I can't be much help to ya but I wish you luck. I never would have thought of colloidal silver but I'm glad to hear it's helping!
Thanks man! I popped by the vet's the other day and had her come out into the parking lot to check him out and she said it's healing nicely, so I guess we're on the right track. We're going to take the cone off tonight and give the ear a good cleaning with a watered down Hibitane solution (I didn't want to do it any sooner in case I irritated the surgical site). I can't wait to come out and see your new mallie, he's such a sweetie (are we sure he's a mal? Wait, we saw him work the sleeve...yup, he's 100% mal!)
