How do you know when to reduce feeding amounts from what a puppy should get to what an adult should get?
Do you base it on age or just watch their weight closely and reduce gradually as you can see their waistline disappear or can't feel their ribs? That would make the most sense to me.
If you base it on age, what age would you begin cutting back the feeding amount?
It is an interactive feeding amount guide from Natures Variety website.
Based on the choices for activity level it looks like they recommend reducing the amounts when the puppy reaches 50% of expected adult weight and again at 80%.
When he starts getting less lean than you'd like. Though, I wouldn't let it get to the point of having him lose his waist. That's pretty damn fat. Just give a feel every so often around his ribs back and spine.
Nobody'll starve to death.
I've had Eich for 10 months now, and the food scale has been collecting dust for about 9 months and three weeks.
