I just returned from vacation, and noticed that my 6 month old Shiba puppy has blood in her vagina. She is licking it a lot more than usual, and I noticed blood stains on the floor.
I just need some opinions before I go running to the vet.
At what age do puppies start menstruating? I assumed it would not happen until about 1 year?
Could it be that all the growth hormones pumped into chickens are causing this.
If it is not possible that she is menstruating what else could it be?
The kennel assures me that they do not allow the dogs to be together, but I wonder if she got 'raped' while she was staying there. Although, I did not think that a male would be interested in a sexually immature female.
Interesting sorry in the Taiwan news a few weeks ago. A customer returned from his vacation to find that his dog was pregnant. The kennel where she had stayed said this was not their fault, because they do not allow the dogs to mix.
The owner did not accept this, so he got a lawyer and had all the dogs DNA tested. Sure enough, there was a positive match with one of the males that had staid in the kennel.
