OK, I am kind of freaking out right now. I have been planning (for a month or so now) on getting my new ACD puppy the beginning of June, but I just spoke with the breeder, and the bitch I (we) thought I was getting my puppy from, isn't preggo...soooo, it looks like I will probably be getting a puppy from a current litter that is ready to go in 2 weeks.... aaahhhhggg..
Thankfully, I have been doing muuucchh research and preperation (to everyone around me's amusement, haha, jokes on them) and the only thing left to do is start and finish the outside dog run. I am excited and nervous. I feel a little off kilter right now. I was planning on taking 2 weeks off, but on this short notice, I am hoping I can pull off a week.
I guess I better get to ording the stuff from the Leerburg catalog that I was going to get...in JUNE. Any suggestions/recommendations (I already have the puppy DVD)???

What DIDN'T I buy from LB...LOL
The puppy drag leash is great. The Amish leather leash is great and very durable. I used the fleece hemp collar when my pup was little. He's graduated to the leather flat collar and I highly reccommend it.
oh, believe me, I have quite the list going. Any suggetions to give her something to do during the day (while I am at work)? I am getting the Everlasting ball, but I don't know if a puppy will even know what to do with it (my older dog will)

Fill up Kong toys with fat free plain yogurt, right before you go to work, pull one out & give to the pup. You can also do the same thing with peanut butter Rotate her toys rather than put them all with the dog at the same time.
Yeah, *almost* like being pregnant, maternity leave does NOT apply, at least at my job. I ended up using one day of vacation and everything went very smooth.
Lots and lots of treats to keep that crate "interesting" for the pup to enter.
Congrats on your news and ditto what Sandy said, you'll ease into the whole thing.

Ditto the Orbee...Get the one without a rope for leaving in the crate and the Orbee on a rope for playing tug.
My pup loves the Romp n Roll (Ed's suggestion about wearing kneepads IS a good one!)and he still loves the Hol-ee Roller. These are the only 2 toys he hasn't yet managed to destroy.
I remember I was nervous too...But I had SO much fun preparing for the "baby"
I have a crate (with a divider to grow with her) which will be her bed, and I got a smaller "cat carrier" crate to keep in my room at night. I even got some "used" receiving blankies to give to the breeder so the scent of her old family will be on them. I still haven't decided on the food yet...I can't do raw, at least not until she is only needing 2 meals a day. I think I am going to go with EVO wet and dry. That's as close to raw as I can do for now.
