Is there a previous e-mail with more info on this dog's case? Age, how long on raw, is dog lathargic for example? Sorry I am new here and just learning my way around this big forum.
Cheers,
Jennifer
I had to go back to look at Ali's previous posts too:
I think I'd try fasting him for a day, then use pre-made raw food and probiotics for a few weeks and see what happens. I also like Natures Variety patties/nuggets for raw. My sensitive stomach dog seems to do just fine with NV.
That's the thing though, he's done too much fasting to do anymore. He's getting really skinny. Right now with the meatballs and rice his poop has already gone a little bit more solid so it's good. But I definitely need to find another vet for another opinion because I have a feeling this whole diarrhea mess is going to go on no matter what food I'm giving him.
If it were my dog, and he was doing okay on meatballs and rice for the moment, I'd keep him on that (or boiled chicken and rice) for several days, and add in some probiotics. Then try switching over to a pre-made raw, and see how it goes.
Well I think they did a whole bloodwork on him and tested him on numerous things, which had the pancreatic tests included. I'm going to search for the next couple of days for a new vet, in the meantime I'm going to go along with the easy meatballs and what not.
As far THK, does it keep the dog's teeth clean just as well as raw meats and bones? Or would I have to find another way to keep them clean?
