For anyone interested, I belong to a co-op called SoCal BARF in Southern California. The leader just let the members know that NPR is doing a story on raw diet to coincide with the Washington hearing on Pet Food Safety scheduled for next Tuesday. SoCal BARF will be a part of that story. NPR reporter Alex Cohen will be at the cold storage facility, where many volunteers sort inventory for distribution on a monthly basis, and be accompanied by a producer and a lay person.
Cohen will be speaking with SoCal BARF locker workers and drivers who wish to speak with her, but she will also be capturing the sounds of distribution since it is radio. Additionally, they will be taking pictures to use on their website. The program is expected to air either Tuesday or Wednesday. You can watch the listings at NPR.org.
Also, as part of the story, Cohen will take products home to her two dogs, both lab/chow rescues who are dealing with struvites out of the WLA shelter.
I hope that NPR gets the word out to all dog and cat owners that there is a healthful alternative to kibble!

http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/petfood.html#recall This site has a listing of recalled foods. You may find that some of the brands or companies are sold in Britain. I know that the recall has extended to other countries than the US and Canada.
I'm in the UK and feed my two GSD's raw.........I use http://www.landywoods.co.uk and have a friendly local buther who supplies me with has much chicken wings and backs as I need....as long as I buy my family meat from him...good deal I think..now is cheaper than kibble plus the dogs are far healthier
