Milt, I have never bred dogs, but I have had them all my life, and from my own personal experience and observation, dogs will eat anything, even if it is bad for them. Dogs are omnivores. The reason they can tolerate so much crap is because of their strong stomach juices and their short intestinal tract. Just because a dog enjoys a food and it doesn't make them sick, does not mean it is actually good for them, nor does it mean it is bad for them.
My personal opinion based upon my own experience says that dairy is not the optimum food group for a dog.
In essence, no, I would not feed my dog milk. I might give them a piece of cheese as a treat, or a bit of yogurt (with live acidophilus) mixed with their food every now and then, but I would not give them milk.
As far as the nature of the discussion on this board, I like the fact that it's not one of those warm fuzzy everybody has to agree, furbaby/furkid love love boards. People are going to disagree, sometimes with conviction. I'd like to think that ideas are attacked, not people.
I agree with your point on sticking to the original topic. I think it's a bit late for that now though!LOL
I'm still trying to figure out where Chad was personally attacked. An OPINION that stated "Chad is passing bad information" was made. An OPINION was made that feeding milk to dogs is bullshit. An OPINION was made that Chad was talking down to people. I think thats all we are talking about here is opinions. One set from a scientific standpoint and the other from an experience standpoint. I did not hear anyone say that they thought Chad was a bad person. I think the term "personal attack" is used way too loosely on this board. Saying that someone is passing bad information is not the same as saying that they are doing it on purpose and are a rotten person. It is an opinion based on years of personal experience.
Chad voluntarily left the board....I didn't see him getting kicked off or anything like that. I've been a bit sensitive in the past on this board, even suggesting that I was being personally attacked. I've learned to chill out and lighten up. I think its time for others to do the same! PEACE!!LOL
I'm thinking you are feeding milk either with, or close to the time you are feeding your "meat" meal. You should not mix milk with meat. This is something that the Chinese have known for thousands of years. I think it is even a "law" in some of the western religions too. The reason is that your stomach has to do one thing to digest meat and somethig else to digest milk. They both get down there and just kinda sit around and do nothin for a while. This is what us humans call a "satisfying" meal feeling. This is not how your dog should feel after a meal. You want his food to "go right through him". He should digest his food quickly and be ready for more soon. Like us humans are after we eat chinese
