Lauren,
You are correct, flaxseed oil is a great source
of omega's. INNOVA dog food also uses ground
flaxseed, with cold pressed hemp oil and chicken
fat to obtain what they consider to be a perfect
balance of omega's.
Jeanette -- I know that I am sounding like a broken record here but please try not to cook your RAW diet. I assume that you are using a juicer to grind up the veggies -- mixing the juice with the pulp to make a smooth consistency -- and I assume that you are using ground meat. Mix these two together with your hands, if need be, and your dog will not be able to 'pick out the good bits'. Adding a buillion cube adds unnecessary salt. If you really want to improve palatability, there is a product called NUPRO that consists of desiccated liver, Norwegian kelp, micropulverized bee pollen, imported nutritional yeast, ground flaxseed, ground borage seed, lecithin, garlic concentrate & lactobacillus acidophilus. You could make a gravy out of this and pour it over the veggie/met mush to improve taste. I use this product on any malnorished Rottie rescue that I have taken in with great results. I still add oil (either flax seed or Omegapet oil - combo oil of sunflower, flax, wheatgerm, cod liver, rosemary extract). However, I refuse to baby my own dogs. If he refuses to eat it -- fast him until he does.

Hey RottnK9......I think your post indicates that you are confusing me w/ Julie, who started this thread!
I don't cook for my dogs. I do allow them some cooked table scraps in their dog dishes after the table has been cleared.
I just picked up some beef/green tripe combo today and they had it for the 1st time ever.Talk about going nuts for food!!!!As soon as I opened the bag they were circling the kitchen, noses in the air and tripping over each other trying to figure out the new scent!!!
