Hi All: It’s close to summer 2007 and wanted to pose a question about the Purchasing and Selling of Dogs in Particular GSD. I noticed while browsing the ROR that there are many disgruntled people out there. So the question is are most of these report’s legit and are there that many bad people out there? OR are there many people out there that will never be satisfied with anything and are just looking too sued and get a free buck any way they can.
My guess is that it's a combination of both. There are a lot of bad breeders out there, many of whom have beautiful websites. But, we also live in a sue happy society where too many people don't want to take responsibility for their own actions or, in some cases, lack of actions (i.e. taking time to research breeds and breeders before handing over their hard-earned money to a total stranger with a nice web site.
Be cautious! Be VERY cautious!
I bought a dog from a breeder/broker here in the USA and sent them a bank Cashiers Check for the total they requested, with import costs and shipping (the dog was a titled 2 yr old bitch in Germany), I sent over $3,200.00 total. This was almost 7 months ago and I never received my Bitch yet! Be very cautious! This broker/breeder I bought from is on this forum along with other forums online, has a website and advertises on Google and other GSD sites also. I have put a report in on the Ripoffreport.com and also the Better Business Bureau. Always check at least these two places FIRST, when dealing with a business.
Don't trust anyone you don't know. I suggest going in person if at all possible to see the pup or dog you are buying and pay for it when you are taking it home with you.
Screwed By Broker
I'm lucky I didn't get caught in that.
I got my pup online, and before I read about alot that goes down with buying dogs that way.
We figured out the paperwork beforehand, and I sent my payment in parts, up until I received my dog.
I got all her papers, a health gurantee, and a wonderful dog.
Guess I was lucky.
But I made sure I talked on the phone and through emails, asking questions and finding out answers. They made me feel at ease 'cause I was a little bit nervous. The breeder was really nice, as well.
