Got a quick question... I'm raising a female GSD for future sport activities. Nothing professional.. mostly recreational for me and for my pup to have a job. I noticed something strange yesterday when I was playing with her and we were just relaxing a bit she jumped up and started to paw and lick at my earlobe. I think she tried suckeling my earlobe... Very strange.. She is currently 10 weeks old and she was raised around her Mom and her littermates up until the age of 7 weeks when I acquired her.. She is eating solid food and has been for a few weeks now. I'm wondering if this is normal for a pup or was she taken away from her Mom too soon? I also noticed every once in a while she will grab a toy or piece of felt and start to nubb on it... Will this pass? I hope she doesn't grow up to want to nurse on a sleeve.. How embarrassing would that be??? Oh well I still would love her and be proud but I know I'd probably get all kinds of grief for it.. Any ideas or comments on her behavior? Thanks in advance..

David: That's not unusual behaviour & I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. My weirdo 18 mo male has done the same thing with stuffed toys ever since he was 8 weeks old. He does it before he goes to sleep as if it somehow calms him down from his usual bouncing off the walls state! He gets his "stinky stuffed dog" in between his front paws, sticks the majority of the thing in his mouth, gets a glazed look in his eyes, sighs & goes to sleep. We call it his "big stinky dog" because the thing reeks from him slobbering on it. To date, he hasn't tried to nurse on a sleeve.
My dobie does the same thing. I go to garage sales and pick up stuffed bears (nice and round) for about $1.00-$3.00 each and every month he gets a new baby. He can tell the difference between the baby I hand to him and the stuffed animals in my daughters room, he won't touch those.
