Wasn't really sure where to post this, but would like any and all suggestions.
Ok, we're going camping from the 22nd to the 28th(leaving 22, coming back on the 28th) in the mountains and taking the dogs with us. I feed my dogs raw, so my question is what would be good to bring with for them, since we'll be roasting weenies and marshmallows(no, I won't be giving them marshmallows ) I thought that maybe I could let them fast the day before we go and just buy some dry Nutro for them, but they haven't eaten that in about 5 months(and they really didn't care for it towards the end of the "switch over")and not sure if they'll even eat it-certainly don't want to waste my money on it if they don't, but the local pet store doesn't carry "natural" or dehydrated raw that I know of. Thank you in advance for the suggestions!

You could get some of the Honest Kitchen food for the camping trip.
And don't forget the graham crackers and Hershey bars to make S'Mores for the human campers.

Hah, I posted this same question a couple days ago.
I think the gist of it was - either get some THK, an awesome cooler, or canned fish.
Have fun!

Be prepared for loose stool. Have plenty of water. My dogs get canned mackerel couple times a month and stool gets loose. If fed daily I would exspect worse. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks everyone! Don't worry, I'll be packing mallows, grahams and chocolate for us-not the pups. Someone sent me a message and they are in the area where we'll be and they sell THK, so might be picking some up from them. Now, one more question. Should I, or does it matter, not feed them the day before we go, assuming we get THK up there?

The dogs do fine riding in the car, it's only an 1 1/2hr drive and they've rode for a lot longer than that before.
I'm just worried that they'll get an upset stomach from the change in food-raw to THK.

You don't have the THK, right?
My preference (by far) is to start them on the new food (the THK) before leaving so they are used to it before the trip. However, you mentioned not getting the new food until you arrive, right?
If they do fine in the car, I'd have no worries about giving their usual food the day before.
I've never had any problems with THK at all (I use it for travel, and sometimes for dogsitters to give), but I understand that some dogs have gas on one of the recipes. I suspect that it might be dogs who are not used to much produce.
Mine do have bigger poops on THK than on raw.
But I think the biggest hurdle might be the dog's surprise at the new non-raw food.
What I do is give their regular raw food for several days before the trip, with a "gravy" of rehydrated THK over it. I increase the THK and decrease the raw until we go. They aren't so stunned at the switch then.

Thanks for the help Connie! No, I don't have THK, might be able to get some the day of-but only enough to feed a dog for 2-3 days(I have 2 dogs). The supplier has a very small business of ot so doesn't have much on hand for more than a few days. I wish I would have thought of this before and bought some from Ed, but silly me , I forget sometimes .
