Just a warning, as this happened to my dog. Watch your puppies (especially) and dogs around remote controls of any kind. Lear, my 13 month old GSD, got hold of a small tv remote control with AAA batteries inside (yeah, he still does naughty puppy things sometimes, like eating toilet paper off the roll ), the back popped open and one of the batteries got stuck in the space between his upper canine and his first molar.
Not realizing he had gotten to the remote, I found out because he was pawing at his mouth. At first I thought it was just an itch. The 3rd time he did it, I checked his mouth and there was the battery, just stuck there. Fortunately, no leakage of the battery at all, just a small indentation where he had bitten it. Scary thought....
The reason I'm posting this is because I would never have figured that the batteries would pop out, so thought I'd pass this along. I keep remotes out of reach for other reasons, not giving thought to the batteries. He just happens to be taller and was able to reach it, during his naughty moment.
Sandy,
Just yesterday on my walk with Nickie, I saw a small battery laying on the sidewalk and thought to myself that a dog or child might try to pick it up and swallow it - some scary things in our environment!
