Thanks everyone! I am trying to do the right thing for my little guy, he is so energetic and wonderfully smart, I can't wait to see him retrieving some birds!
Thanks for the recommendations on the vaccinations, I will ask my vet about the titres instead of vaccines and see how she reacts. If she doesn't like it, I guess I'll be looking for a new vet!
We did start Remi on his antibiotics last night and he was up more than usual during the night and his stools are a bit soft, so hopefully his system will settle down after a day or two...
Also, got some information from the owners of his parents, and apparently the dad had all kinds of ear problems before they found one food that he could have that didn't cause problems. Anyone heard of a sensitivity to canola oil??? Remi's dad's mom checked ingredient lists and that's the only thing that seemed different to her. I looked at a lot of the kibbles on Ed's natural list and it's in almost all of the puppy food. Anyone have a take on the puppy vs. adult dog food? It looks like the adult foods don't have canola oil in most of the foods. The Eagle Holistic Select adult foods don't have it.
For now we're sticking to natural kibble, but I've put the raw diet seed in my husband's ear and he thought he wouldn't mind harvesting a few extra deer in the fall if he knew we'd use it! Just have to find out if there's another source of other meats around and how costly it will be.... do you guys all have box freezers for all the meat??
