Fred the 9 month old G S Pup Barks as soon as he goes in the Car Crate to go to the Training centre, it is 14 kms to one place and a Hour and a Quarter drive to another place
By the time he gets there he is wound up, When his training is finished we let him cool down and give him a drink and then put him back in the Car Crate with the Back door of the car up so he can see out
He can be in there on his own for 30 to 40 minutes till we leave for home and he will not make one sound, he is as good as Gold
On the homeward run it is not until we get within 300 m of home then he barks, thats no problem, but it the going to the training he does not stop,
Once we get the pup in the car opposite side of Crate its a two dog crate, i am worried the pup may start by taking notice of Fred, Any ideas on how to stop this would be good
A friend of mine had a male malinois who would wear himself out barking and even spin in his crate enough to hurt his feet before training because he wanted out when he heard the clatter stick.
So she began putting a bark-collar on him before training when he was to wait in his crate and he laid there like a gentleman and didn't even peep until she came to leash him and work. He was much calmer and stable dog with the bark collar on and it kept him under control. She took the bark collar off when he exited the crate.
I think the bark collar would work for you. A lady I see at the dog park says her dog barks all the way to the park and it can be quite distracting... I don't see why a bark collar wouldn't work. They learn very quickly to be quiet and can control whether they get a correction or not.
