It's your kill; you should be able to do with it what you want. It's not really enforceable at all but it's in the regulations. Following the law even though it can't be easily enforced is a moral debate not pertinent to this discussion.
Eskimos and other native american indian tribes here in Alaska generally have exceptions to most hunting regulations for their subsitence. I'm not sure if it applies in this case.
I was just trying to point out the possibility of this type of law being present in other states. Most people don't consider harvesting animals for the purpose of feeding their pets so the law may not be well known in your home states if it does exist.
I certainly think it is a valid point. Using game for dog food is definately growing along with the raw diet (atleast in hunting country). The last thing you want is the game warden and the local animal control nazi showing up. (not intended to offend the acutal hardworking good animal control officers out there)
One thing I found out is that if you go to Sam's Club close to the time of closing they will give the meat at way discount price, and if you show your face enough sometimes for free because for some reason they are not allowed to resell it the next day. I don't know if they are all this way but it may not hurt to look into when trying to save $$ when you can.
Let me pop in a quick question too, how do you get them to eat raw turkey my dog is burying it all over

Well here in N.C. it's also "against the law" to participate in oral sex. How many people do you think follow that law?!

NC F&W enforcement says it is legal to feed game animals as long as you are not selling it.
Any one have any reason why I shouldn't feed human grade venison as part of a rounded diet?
Thanks.
Recollect that the Almighty, who gave the dog to be companion of our pleasures and our toils, hath invested him with a nature noble and incapable of deceit.
The only problem I see with wild game is that it may be prone to have more parasites/etc than the meat at the butchers counter. I think if you or your butcher inspect the meat, know the source of the kill, and avoid anything along the central nervous system (and the tounge) then you should be good to go as long, as you said, it is part of a well rounded meal.
