Looking to get a safe dog box for back of my truck,65 pound GSD trying to lay in my lap on his back with feet in air isn't the safest way to drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

That picture is too funny! But driving would be dangerous that way.
Your easiest option would be to get a heavy duty plastic crate or kennel and tie it into the bed of the pickup. They have plenty of holes for ventilation and a white one will reflect the sun. A more expensive option would be to get a wooden or aluminum dog box from a coon hound hunters supply catalogue.
I am not a big fan of seatbelt harness because they spin around and can choke themselves. I bought one a few months ago and didn't like it. I drove about an hour from Tucson to Mt Lemon. When I get to Mt Lemon, I found out that my dog was trapped in his seatbelt harness and couldn't move.
I prefer to use a crate over anything so not everyone has a suv or van. If I have a car, I rather not to use a seatbelt harness.
