Wow - I haven't been on the forum for a long time. I owe a lot to this forum when I first got my dogs. They're CGC now and great pets.
I'm not sure this is quite "working", but it gives my GSD something to do. I just wanted to share some info in case anyone WANTS your dog to pull you around. Hey you never know:

That looks like alot of fun! Reminds me of sitting on a skateboard when I was a kid and throwing a ball for the family dog to pull me accross the driveway

No, that looks like a fast way to end up in the hospital.
I'm trying to picture uncoordinated me in Heelys and my spaz dog,True, careening out-of-control down the road in front of the neighbors. Shock and awe!

Risk of injury is part of working dogs
I don't have a dog that I'd trust to do that with, one cat or a person that looks at them wrong and I'm under a car LOL. I can tell em to stop, but by that time I'll already have lost my balance.

HAHA - well .. like any working dog, he has to be trained for the task.
Funny story - one time I went to play volleyball. I brought my pup. He sat at the edge of the field to watch. I needed to get something from my car across a huge parking lot. So I latched his leash and told him to pull me back to the car. Like an idiot, I didn't have my wheels in. You can image THAT was fun. After hearing an aweful thump, he looked back at me with a face like "did you MEAN that??"
Yeah .. I'm supposed to be like, the higher intelligence being. LOL.
The dog knows to be aware of where I am in relation to him and traffic. There's a lot I'm not teaching. We've been seeing kids try it more and more. Some are using collars, and dogs that chase cars. I figured that someone should get some info out there.
If I hit the brakes on my skates, he knows to stop - its a non-verbal command.
Thanks for looking and replying!

You have finally piqued my interest enough that I'm going to attempt to watch the 5 min video from my dial-up connection....
It'll take about an hour and a half to be able to watch it all in one piece.
Oh wait, I got the first 30 seconds in about 6 segments, it only took 15 min.
Looks like fun! But I would definitely need all the protective gear.
And I would have to go to town for the concrete, of course then I could practice injuring myself in front of lots of people.
I think I'll just download the video instead.

Debbie - you want the youtube link, not the chautown link.
The YT link should work even on dial-up.
Skating with your dog isn't for everyone. But for high energy people and high energy dogs, its a match made in heaven!
David Morris - Thanks!! We also play frisbee.
