I happened to be shopping tonight and see a great deal on beef feet, so I picked them up hoping that they are okay to give to the dogs. They are raw and uncooked, I made sure with the butcher. Are they okay to give to the dogs? I wanted to make sure before I start handing them out.
I give pigs' feet, so I don't know why beef feet wouldn't be ok. I do clean them off if they're whole; I've been getting quartered ones lately, but the whole ones can be kinda nasty sometimes, and I'm not sure I want my dogs eating whatever they happened to step in in the slaughterhouse...diseases, etc. I really don't have a logical reason for washing them, but I do it anyway. Same with chicken-I rinse it in super-hot water to get that nasty broth off or any other chemicals.
My dogs eat deer and cows feet, they are usually the last thing to get eaten, though.
My farrier told me that if a dog eats lots of horse hoof trimmings that they will get some gastro-intestinal upset, but that cow hooves won't make them sick.
