I heard Czech dogs are really sporty and don't do well in anything beyond club level Schutzhund. Hey Art, don't you have a Czech dog like that????
LOL!!!!
I'm sure Mike Diel will agree with you, he hasn't done well with the Czech lines at all.
All kidding aside I was surprised when Princess Weasel started to enjoy the sport as much as she does, I always thought, that like her daddy, she would be better suited for "real" work. Really did think she would be too sharp and suspicious for sport.
Go figure <shrug>
Really Mike, you should move back now, prime training season.... House next door is for rent/on the market and you will get use to the stores being 15 miles away after a while.....LOL
Art's dog is a moose, can't believe how big he is. He is one nice pup.
Art ,I know you are busy and important and all and probably don't remember me but, where are the pictures of your moose you promised..huh!!
I remember you asking me if you should go for it or not on that pup ( boy I'm glad I said yes :grin, I have always wondered if your pup will look like his father Xant, that is SUCH a nice looking dog with drives
An educated guess why there are some showlines in czech dogs is probably that they didn´t have access to lots of workinglines from west, travel and buy dogs from west wasn´t easy either I guess, being a communist country at that time. So sometimes they needed to use showlines even if some didn´t wanted to, due to lack of other alternatives. On the other hand, a few showlines far back isn´t anything to worry about in the present dogs, is it?
It´s the same here in Sweden, being a small country and isolated from the rest of the dogworld by strict importregulations due to rabiesconcerns for a long time, forced breeders to sometimes use a showline, because strict workinglines from Germany who also were good producers were to expensive and not that common. The showlines from germany were more common, as more people breed dogs for show compared to work. That´s why some showdogs from the early 80s or 70s could be found in many workingdogs.
Now it´s easier to get access to good breeding stock from other countries, and you see that in czech dogs to, they use more westgerman dogs nowadays, to increase the genepool.
