Hi, My pup turned 4 months 3 days ago.. GSD... I might just be a paranoid parent but she does not eat very much. today she was given some previously frozen raw meat (beef heart, beef, carrot, rice) which she ate most of yesterday morning. She ate none today. I have been switching her food because one day she will eat it the next she will not. I have also given her "Evangers" hunk of beef in a can and braised beef with chunks. She seems to like beef more than chicken (on some days). She has barely eaten anything today and i can hear her stomach gurgeling. I guess my question is --> should i be worried about this? Other friends with dogs tell me to leave the food and she will eat when she is hungry. Im concerned because she is only 4 months old and I would think she needs to be eating to get stronger. Is this a normal behavior in puppies.. It seems since I have had her she has been very very picky.
questions:
1)Is this normal for a 4month old puppy not to be eating?
2)Should i change her foods, or just leave it and she will eat when she is hungry enough?
She has gained a couple lbs in a week or so. I have given her numerous other foods which she will not even touch: canidae, innova, chicken soup, etc. and wont touch dry at all..
Have you looked into the RAW diet? At this stage in her development it's important that if you do feed raw food, that you balance it appropriately. I noticed you didn't say that you gave her any bones. See this article: http://www.leerburg.com/feedpups.htm

If you do a search on raw diet on this forum (left side of page "Search Our Site"), you'll see several other articles as well.
There's no reason or need to give her rice with her raw food. That would slow down the digestion of the raw food. She doesn't need rice at all unless she has diarrhea and vet advises it.
At 4 months she should be eating 2-3 times a day. I would certainly not give raw plus kibble plus canned dog food. Too much going on there, too much for the digestive system to handle. Hard to monitor what she's eating, nutritionally speaking.
Has she been checked for parasites? I recommend a visit to the vet, take in a stool sample.
