Carolyn,
I use Panacur when I worm my dogs. It is a powder that I get from my vet and I just mix each dose in with a meal of Honest Kitchen.
Panacur is usually given one time per day for three days.

Fenbendazole (Panacur®
Fenbendazole is a medication used to treat infestations with many parasites including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms. It may also be used in the treatment of flukes and Giardia. Side effects are rarely seen. In addition to treatment, elimination of parasites must also include proper sanitation and prevention measures to ensure the pet does not become reinfected.
If you already were given the dewormer, the way I used to do it was hold the dogs muzzle lightly and then slide the syringe in the side and depress the plunger. Watch out, as soon as it hits your dogs tongue they are going to start licking like crazy.
OR you can put it in a bit of soft food and mix it up well and feed it to the dog needing treatment.

Unfortunately they've already had the first dose at the vet's office... I'm not sure I want to switch chemicals mid-stream.
I'll ask for that though if there's a next time-- i hope not though! lol.
I watched the vet quickly shoot the stuff down the dog's throat and thought, I'm glad its not me. Well... now it is. I really don't want them to spit it back at me!
The best thing to do is. Put it in the back of there cheek and squirt fast very fast. Do it while they are hungry it is the best time then let them eat. Normally the vet will give a little more in case they spit some out. Good luck you will get it don't worry.
And to add if they eat after any left in there mouth will get shallowed. And literally if you do it in there cheek it wont hit there tongue tell it is to late. Causes a lot less tongue action.
I use panacur tablets, 1 tab per 20lbs of weight or something like that, for 3 days. I shove it down their throat, far back on the tongue as I can get it. My dogs have all learnt not to fight it and it goes much easier once they figure out I'm doing it anyway :p
My dogs all hate the taste of Panacur liquid wormer.
When I worm them I hold onto the skin on the lower side of the jaw, open their mouth with my finger and put 1/2 the dose at the back of the throat, hold the muzzle up until they lick their nose (that's when they swallow) then repeat with the other half of the dose. They are less likely to spit it out or choke doing 1/2 at a time. Mine also cooperate much better when I hold them by the skin on the lower jaw than when I try to open their mouths from the top.
