I HAVE A MALE GSD WITH SEVERE ALLERGIES. I HAD HIM ON BARF FOR +1 YR AND STILL NEEDED STERIOD SHOTS. THEN DID ANTIBIOTIC/FUNGAL ORAL MED REGIME WITH BARF. STILL NO GREAT IMPROVEMENT. I AM NOT SAYING BARF IS BAD, BUT MY GSD IS ALLERGIC TO CHICKEN, BEEF, LAMB, PORK, CORN, WHEAT, ALFALFA, ETC. I CANNOT AFFORD HYPOALLERGENIC BARF. SO NOW HE EATS WLATHAM CATFISH AND BROWN RICE PRESCRIPTION DIET, AND I HAVE SUPPLEMENTED GOAT'S MILK WITH HIS FOOD. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS MILK. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING UNDER SUN FROM OMEGA 369 OILS, ADRENAL SUPPLEMENTS, MANNA, YOU NAME IT. THIS MILK HAS ADDED A SHINE TO HIM I HAVE NEVER SEEN!! HIS COAT IS SOFT, AND NO LONGER DOES HE HAVE THE ELBOW CALUSSES. ALL I CAN SAY IS THE GOAT MILK HAS GIVEN MY SICK BOY A GREAT BILL OF HEALTH. THE GOAT MILK PROTEINS ARE SMALLER AND EASIER DIFESTED ALONG WITH FATS THAT IS WHY IT IS GOOD FOR AN INFLAMED INTESTINE F.Y.I.
sandra, you are absolutely right about the goat milk. i have fed goat milk to nursing dams as well as the pups - especially when the dam is drying up too soon. wonderful results and no digestive problems. infact, goat milk is tolerated far better by humans than cow milk. people are gradually becoming more aware of the benefits of goat milk, however a lot of people are still "put off" by goats and refuse to try goat milk products. glad to hear your dog is doing better. keep it up.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers
Thanks Patricia. My husband and I are firm believeres that the goat milk bill prevents vet bills. All my animals at the house know what the milk container looks like and get so excited! In a perfect world I would have a goat and give fresh goat milk, but I am in school and have my hands full, until then something is better than nothing. Glad to hear of a fellow goat-milk-user.
