Hey Jenni,
I just read the article you forwarded. Informative and concise! I've been considering taking Tyge to a wonderful vet, who practices traditional medicine with other alternative methods. She helped my tremendously with multiple issues with my horse. She really approaches things from another angle.
I suspect I will be traveling to see her in the near future.
I did just pick up a bottle of Prozyme !!
Hi My 6 month old puppy(almost 7)has had this bad with more on loose days than off. She was seriously quite ill with bleeding. NO one could find any reason. I believe the bleeding was caused when she had her vaccinations which made her problem much more severe. I then put her on raw meat diet and then she was only intermittent but still highly so. I just took her to a new holistic vet. He believes she can not handle most grains. It has been a week now without this! No grains except for rice which I don't know if that is a real grain.(vet recommended a high amount of rice really for awhile) Yes, she use to eat bread. My husband would toss her piece of her home made bread all the time. And some of her treats had what I think was corn grain in them. This is my only clue to your problem is what I have experienced. I believe my puppy was seriously suffering from cramps with this as she would cry a lot while sleeping then runnnnn outside shortly afterwards. Now its amazing to watch her sleep and no cries coming forth. She had multiple testing for parasite, gargia thing..spelling wow...None of these was her problem.

Good job, Elizabeth.
After dropping off a fecal sample with the vet, many forum members (including this one) would advise first to get rid of all grains.
Overcooked rice can help firm up the stools of many dogs, although I understand that there are some dogs who cannot handle even that treatment. (And I would use it only temporarily.)
