Ok this is what is going on.
My puppy Jewel has started bitting a lot. I do the toy thing but it does not seem to be working she is about 12 weeks now give or take. I don't know what to do she made me bleed not bad but it still hurt. We were playing with toys and she decided to go for my arm instead of the toy. How do I stop this now. or can I? I just don't want her to be a biter is this normal for her age she is a pit. So I am worried. Am I over reacting or should I stop this now. And how.

I have no personal experience with a dog that young, but here are Ed's Q and A on pups biting:
Stephanie, keep redirecting to towels or toys. Frozen hand towels work pretty well too in soothing the pup's gums. You could also try Bully Sticks (these are not rawhide)to keep her occupied. Also, get a Kong if you don't already have one and fill it w/ cream cheese or peanut butter and let her work at that. And, if she's really biting and won't quit, redirect her for a bit and then put her in her crate w/ something to chew on.
She will outgrow the mouthing when she stops teething. My pup was the same way...
I would not use a puppy prong at her age...
And keep the hydrogen peroxide and bandaids handy!
Good luck!
Thanks Lynne,
I told my husband and we pulled the DVD once again. He said that we will try everything but yes That will be the plan for now. She ate through one kong already. And she has got another one. And I freeze her favorite stuffed toy. She is just a few months old so I think she is still teething. But when I get her out of the first bighting stage then she starts to get her adult teeth oh boy lol
Come to fined out. She hid her first kong. When we moved I found it anyway she has done good with redirect. Also she will stop biting on command now. She is a pup but it does hurt. She is learning What to chew on more and more everyday. But yes I have been working hard she is still going to be a therapy dog.
