I believe that my GSD, Grace, has atypical pannus/plasmoma...which is basically pannus of the third eyelid. We've made the first visit to the vet and it seems like we'll be off to a specialist.
Just wondering about anyone else's experience with this, though it might be a long shot that anyone has encountered it.
We'll just add this to Grace's Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency problems...I'm pretty sure that she must have went online and read about GSD conditions. She won't be happy until she has them all
On the plus side, my vet's office has a new vet and she was great! Very willing to listen to my ideas...finally!

My GSD has corneal pannus and atypical pannus. She is almost 10 years old and has had this for many years. We have been treating her with cyclosporin eyedrops every other day and she is doing fine. Her vision has not been affected. The initial treatment of the condition required additional drops given daily, but once it was under control, these drops were tapered off to the current eyedrop schedule. I would highly recommend seeing a veterinary opthamologist. We have been very happy with the care our girl has recieved from the specialist we use. Good luck with your girl!
Thank you, Mary...it means a lot to hear that people have successfully dealt with this condition. I will be going to see a veterinary opthamologist, for my peace of mind, along with treatment options. I told Grace that if she gets anything else she is going to give me a nervous breakdown!
I had to use eye drops for drak about a year ago. Lst winter he had some mucusy, like we get. We brought him to the vet and they said to try basic eye drops for a couple of days and if it did not clear up, they would check further but it cleared up but luckily. It must of been something simple like a cold eye because of the weather. I don't know if that is the same think as what you are talking about?

My female gsd has pannus. She just turned 8 and is doing great. I give her prednisolone acetate every other day. She's also on a raw diet and minimal vaccinations which I truly believe has helped her! Good luck.
Glad to hear it, Enrique...my girls is also raw fed and I will no longer be vaccinating, only doing titers...I never heard back from my vet, so I'll be calling on Monday and getting a referral to a veterinary opthamologist (and likely finding a new vet.)
