Connie: No green tripe, nope.
Jeff: Yeah...she did have watery bowels a few days ago, but chicken, rice, and pumpkin seems to have cleared that problem up. She's been pretty solid for the last two or three days. I can't think of a source of fouled water she could have gotten into, since she's crated / kenneled most of the time, but it's possible.

Giardia is very common, it ORIGINALLY comes from contaminated water, but is transmitted from dog to dog quite easily. If it is Giardia it can be easily treated with panacur or flagyl.

Dogs can also catch Giardia from drinking out of the toilet, according to a Whole Dog Journal article.
It sounds as though your dog is burping more than mine do, although I don't keep a burp log so I can't say for sure. Mine will occasionally have a foul burp or fart, but I think it's just when they have gotten into something nasty.
You could try adding some kefir or yogurt every day to see if it helps.
A little extra beef liver or other organ meats may help her clear any toxins she has built up in her system.

She gets yogurt every day, beef liver every other day. I'm taking a sample in tomorrow, but I doubt it's giardia...we'll see. I think she's also got an ear infection right now, the poor thing.
Because of the ear I'm cutting her yogurt, and I need to flush her ears out. It's always a challenge, she shrieks like a banshee and fights like the dickens, she doesn't like weekly ear cleanings at all. We've been working on making it positive, but....

How bad? Debris? Gray slime? Head-shaking?
Weekly ear-cleaning..... may I ask why? Does debris collect?
Note: You don't want to introduce moisture to a healthy ear.

She has black chunky stuff (ear wax with dirt) that she often has, which I simply wipe out with a moistened cloth ( http://www.naturvet.com/listingview.php?listingID=43 ). She's been doing a lot of head shaking, and if I put pressure on the base of the ear she whimpers and groans.
No gray slime. So that's...good.
She's rough and tumble in the back yard, so she gets dirt in the ear. I do it based on visual inspection, if it looks bad, I clean it.

Any odor?
The vet will "slide" the debris and tell you whether this is yeast or bacteria or a combo (common).
That whimpering indicates an middle/inner-ear infection, which can spread. It's also generally very painful.
Is it frequent? And no apparent allergies (atopy, etc.)?

No, no odor.
The vet decided to do a culture. He gave us Amoxicillin and Zymox Otic till Saturday, and will modify the medication based on the results of the cultue.
We'd thought she was having issues with one ear, but apparently it's both. She's had a lot of health issues since we brought her home, 4 months ago. I asked the VT to xerox her entire file for me, there are at least 3 visits (each costing about $165 - $200) that we've had to take her in for, "emergency" issues. In 4 months.
This is the first instance of infection that I'm aware of, but it is possible that the infection has been there for a while, though she only recently started favoring one ear and shaking her head.
The pain could account for some of the reccurence of skittishness in public, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We'll treat it, and see where we stand.

It's likely, IMO.
Fear of having a painful head touched is a definite possibility, IMO. So is possible partial (temporary) deafness in one side. And pain in general is a socializing setback.
I'm so glad you saw this and took her in to be checked.
Having had ear infections as a kid, I can tell you that they are pure misery. With a dog, whose nature is to endure and not display weakness, that misery can get pretty bad before the dog vocalizes.
She is fortunate that she found you, IMO.
