do be prepared though for some seriously nasty poop. I about threw up the first time, MY husband didnt realize i had wormed him and came running in to tell me puppy somehow got into spagetti noodles (gag)
they may still be slightly moving and he will need to potty much more than normal for a day or two, my pup also threw a couple up...this was expected, but he was BADLY infested and was swollen and bloated and distended.
He also had loose stools for about 3 days afterwards, not watery, just pudding and lots of it.
An alternative to chemical de-wormers is diatomaceous earth. I just used this method on a recent litter. The litter is 100% raw fed and vaccine free. Introducing a chemical wormer to my puppies did not go along with my philosophy on dog health and rearing. After much research I chose to go with diatomaceous earth and have had excellent results with no side effects. Cannot find the threads, but here is some information.....
Carol, thanks for pointing that out. Correct, there are two species of tape worms. Panacur only kills the Taenia species. Most of the time (in my experience) we are dealing with the Dipylidium species though.
